Our web site will also keep the reunion information posted. ASMNE-MAIL ADDRESS CHANGE: If you have been contacting us by using the “alpiners” address, please check if you are using alpiners@worldnet.att.net. If so, as of March 31st this address will no longer be in service. The new address will simply remove “worldnet” and the new address will be alpiners@att.net. Change the address now so you can stay in touch with us. We have a Google Alert set for “ASA Alpiners” and lo-and-behold we popped up on a web site listed as “eroticlondon.net.” Now I know we have a couple of horny Brit members but I sure hope they haven’t linked our web site to some salacious London sites. (Just kidding fellows). Speaking of the Brits, Jim Jarman (British DF operator attached to the 137th Signal Radio Intelligence Company from February, 1945 to VE Day) was paid a visit by Bob Petersen on January 16th. You may remember that Petersen is collecting historical data on signal intelligence units during WW-II. Jim said that Bob Petersen wanted to hear first hand about Jim’s experiences serving with the 137th as DF support and the Battle Plan the British used in Radio Intelligence as the British used more and smaller units spread out over the front. Supporting Member Rod Rasmussen (Herzo 57-58) brought back some good memories by forwarding us a video of The Ballad of the ASA. It’s been a heck of a long time since we heard it. If you want to bring back some Viet Nam era memories, Google videos for “Ballad of the ASA” and the first item that pops up should be Beller’s Fellers – Part 9 of 9. Click on that and the video should come up. For those of you not familiar with it, it is an ASA parody to the tune of the Green Beret song. Kind of brings back memories of our great Furtmeier’s drinking song, Mampi Cognac. Supporting Member Jamie Johnson (Scheyern 53-55) has published his second paperback novel Born Silent. This follows his first novel Fire and Eternity. Both now available at amazon.com. We’ve got pictures. The pictures from the 2008 and 2009 reunions here in St. Louis are finally posted on our web site. Not many but at least some small remembrance of the good time that we had. Our thanks to Tom McGinnis (Scheyern 48-49) and Bill MacDonald (Scheyern 48-52/53-55) for their contributions. Blimey, mates - Our new member Bob Birdwell (see below) did a five week TDY in Northern Germany with your 14th Signals Regiment (EW). NEW CONTACTSRobert E. Birdwell (Frankfurt 78-80/Mt.
