REUNION XVIII – OCTOBER 8-9-10 – ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI

Will you be joining us? Then make sure you complete the Reservation Request form. Some of the events have to be pre-paid so be sure to get the form and your check into the mail by August 31st. In the past we’ve managed to juggle illness cancellations and refund most pre-payments, except for the registration fee.

You Willie Nelson fans might want to consider coming in early. Farm Aid, featuring Willie, Neil Young, Dave Matthews and John Mellencamp will be here, in the area, October 4, 2009, at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, MO. Organizers say that the concert can last most of the day. Check out their web site at http://www.farmaid.org for ticket information.

There is so much else to do in St. Louis that if you want to come in earlier or stay a little later, the Cheshire will honor our room prices for three days before and three days after our reunion. To fill that time check out the other events going on by clicking on to St. Louis’ events web site at http://www.explorestlouis.com. Click on the dates starting with October 5th through 13th.

ASMN

Supporting Member Ted Atkinson (Scheyern/Memmingen 53-55) and Gabriele will be back in Memmingen by the time you get this newsletter. They’re off to visit Gabriele’s home, festivities, class reunion and some hiking in Grainau. Alpspitz u Zugspitze by lift.

Supporting Member and Editor Ralph Thadeus (Scheyern 53-56) and Eda will be heading West for the better part of August. Stopping first in Vancouver, BC, they will be part of the wedding party for their God-granddaughter. After the wedding they’ll kick back for another week visiting old friends from their Ohio days. Then it’s off for a 7-Night Alaska Sawyer Glacier cruise through the Inside Passage. Yours truly spent his first tour after VHFS at Helemano, Hawaii, and then they had the gall to ship my butt up to Nome, Alaska. All I can say about that is that it was the only troop ship voyage that ever impressed me. So much so that I want my wife to see the wonders of the passage. This time with a little bit of class.

Scheyern CO Quentin Zell and his wife Dot will not be able to attend the reunion this year. Their kids have planned a family get-together the same weekend, in Wilmington, NC, to celebrate the Colonel and Dorothy’s upcoming 70th wedding anniversary in December. Col. Zell says that his clan of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren now is over 40 strong. In parting the Colonel wishes us a great time at the reunion.

Your Editor just found out that Eva Natividad, wife of our President Jim Natividad (Scheyern 47-54), is in their local ICU with a pretty serious illness. Jim says, however, that progress is being made and they expect a full recovery. We all wish you a fast recovery Eva.
