LOUISVILLE REUNION (MAY 24-26, 2007) is pretty much locked-in as of now.  The Reunion Reservation Request will be e-mailed shortly after you receive this newsletter, with payments to be made out to Jim Natividad our group’s President.  Please use the Reservation Request to make your payment, not this article.  Here are some of the details of the reunion.

The Bavarian Evening dinner, on Friday night, May 25th, will be a sit-down affair.  Attire will be casual with a German and/or Bavarian theme.  Cash bar will open at 5:00 p.m. with dinner starting at 6:30 p.m.  No live entertainment but we will have German CD’s playing for your Bavarian stimmung.  Dinner will be sauerbraten with spaetzln, tomato salad, red cabbage, and apple strudel for desert.  The cost will be $23.00 per person.

The reunion Business Meeting will be held on Saturday, the 26th, at 3:00 p.m. in the hospitality room.  At the meeting there will be an election of officers and discussion about where and when to hold the next reunion.  If you are willing to suggest a particular location and time, be prepared to act as the reunion on-site coordinator.  Not a hard job but one that requires your full dedication.  Speaking of the Hospitality Room, it will be pretty much open from noon on Thursday until Sunday, with the exception of sleep time, dinners and the business meeting.  The hotel will allow us to bring our own beverages into the room so do not hold back – bring some of the good stuff along with you.

Saturday’s Banquet, on the evening of the 26th, will be a little different from in the past in that it will be a buffet style service.  Cash bar will be open at 5:00 p.m.  The buffet will consist of a Salad Bar, Roast Loin of Pork and Southern Fried Chicken, scalloped potatoes, vegetable medley/green beans, and desert bar.  The cost will be $27.00 per person.

To support the website, e-newsletter and reunion group operations, a $10.00 per person registration fee will also be charged for those attending the reunion.

As in the past, if, God forbid, you have a medical emergency at the last minute, and can not attend the reunion, we will refund your advance payment less the registration fee.

ASMN

Just a word of thanks to you folks out there that are passing along the reunion information, by word-of-mouth, to those not hooked up on to the Internet.  We have been getting inquiries and
Planning Profiles from several individuals not on our e-mail list.  Talk it up guys, here’s a chance for you mid-westerners to hook up with your old buddies.

And the memories linger on.  Way back in April 2006, as part of an article about Passau, the name of Scheyern’s SFC John Yanacek was mentioned.  Nothing was heard in the mean time until early this month when someone was Googling the name and got a hit on our article.  Jacki Yanacek, John’s sister-in-law, passed along the information the he had passed away in 1979.  Not a happy ending to the story but another small gap in information has been filled.

Patrick Garrison, grandson of Roy Garrison (Scheyern mid-to-late 40’s) would like to contact any members who remember Roy during his time in Scheyern.  Roy passed away recently and his grandson has many pictures of Roy’s time in Europe that he would like to share.  If any of you remember Roy, contact me and I will put you in touch with Patrick.

And a big thank you to Jim Natividad (Scheyern 47-54) for stepping in at the last minute to handle the reunion finances.  Attaboy Jim.
