Army Security Agency/Signal
Intelligence Service Volume 2 - Number 4 ASMN
THE PHOENIX DOES RISE AGAIN. Scheyern guys! Do you remember sitting in the Cloister garden on those warm summer evenings partaking of those excellent Schnitzels mit Breiselbeeren, gruenen Salat and Bratkartoffel washed down with a "Halbe" of Scheyerngold ? Well, after a hiatus of fourteen years, Germany's third oldest brewery (since 1119), Klosterbrauerei Scheyern, is back in business. On May 1st they held the re-opening celebration. Unfortunately the days of Scheyerngold
are now history. The brewery will be
making Klosterbier-Hell, Klosterbier-Dunkel
and Kloster-Weißbier.
The 116th Signal Radio Intelligence Company
(WW-II) project is finally done. The
original books have been returned to their
owners and Col. QUENTIN L. ZELL's (Heilbronn/Scheyern
52-55) copy has now been sent to the Cryptologic
Museum at Fort Mead.
In their acknowledgement letter the Museum
mentioned that they would share the book
and CD with the Center for Cryptologic History. In
order to protect the physical integrity of
the book itself, we have sent another CD
copy to the Museum for forwarding to the
Center.
Speaking of CD's: There are a few more
copies of the book on CD (in .pdf format)
still available.
For those of you who could not decipher

answer is "Some day I will rule you all."

The latest edition of Len Fisher's USASA
National Capital Area Alumni News had some
information about VHFS that we thought might
be of interest to our members who served
and/or went to Intercept School there. Len
writes: "From time to time, several of us
go out to Vint Hill and have lunch at what
used to be the "O" club. For those
of you who served there and loved the place,
a visit there would bring a 'Lump to your
throat and a tear to your eye'!!! All
of the familiar landmarks are gone. The
Antenna Field, Quarters, etc. etc. - All
Gone. The FAA has a large activity
there and many homes in the $600,000 price
range have been erected. We believe
the county has control of the place and will
develop it further."
Your Editor recently received a membership
application from the Army Historical Foundation. The
stated purpose of this group is "...committed
to preserving the heritage of the American
soldier." The Alpiners support the
Crypto Museum but want to alert any of our
members who might be interested in the Army
Historical Foundation. You can get
further information on the group by telephone
to 703-522-7901 Ext 26 or by e-mailing them
at information@armyhistory.org. The
organization is 501 (c)(3) non-profit, tax
deductible.
