Volume 1 - Number 4 ASMN Got a short e-mail from Wayne Tetro (Scheyern 9/51-11/54). He would like to hear from any of his old Scheyern buddies. You can contact him by e-mail at: wdt33@ij.net. On June 18th Karen Hoshour (the widow of Jed Hoshour, Wels 53-55) hosted an afternoon mini-reunion in Blandon, PA, for Bill and Blanche Staats (Wels 53-55), Merrill and Linda Schaeffer (Scheyern 55-57), Joe and Millie Strock (Wels/Bad Aibling/Nottau 54-56) and Gloria McFerren. Gloria's husband, Pat McFerren (Scheyern/Wels/Bad Aibling 55-57) could not attend as he was in rehabilitation after an automobile accident on May 9th. After the mini-reunion, Karen Hoshour, the Staats' and Strock's traveled to the rehab facility with Gloria and they all had a very nice visit with Pat for about a half-hour. Pat was pleased that his comrades came to see him and it is expected that he will be able to return home about the end of June. In
last month's E-News, you might remember that our British
counterpart, Clive Sanders (Bad Aibling British Detachment 67-68),
was trying to locate several of his old acquaintances from BA. Well,
with a little bit of help from Tom Pfeifer (Bad Aibling 67-69)
and Google, we managed to hook up Clive with Denny Trandem, also
in BA during that time frame. Now if you BAers living in
the New Jersey area get busy and locate Ralph (Duke?) Schriver,
we might be able to complete Clive's request. TAPS William (Bill) Joyce (116th SRIC - WW2)
passed away from heart failure on June 16, 2005, as reported by
Ralph Wilke (116th SRIC - WW2). Bill's
wife was able to get him to the hospital after the attack but he was unable to
survive. The Joyce's were in their Mansfield, Ohio, home at the time
of his passing. HAVE A SAFE AND SANE INDEPENDENCE DAY AND DON'T FORGET TO FLY THE FLAG |
