Chuck Bowen (BA/Hof/Bindlock/Coburg/Bamberg 52-54) plans on spending a month in Germany this coming Autumn.  Chuck hopes to make the Charleston reunion which will be one week after his return from the land of Bratwurst and  Spatenbrau.

In last month's update, under the TAPS column, we mentioned the passing of George Degenhardt and that we had no unit or date information on him.  Doug Nemier (Giessen 53-54) wrote us to say that George was with the 331st Comm. Recon. where George, as an SFC, was Operations NCOIC in Koenigslutter during 1953.

Many thanks to Jim Barber (Bamberg 54-56) for keeping the information about our web site music, which I had misplaced in my own records.  The info was passed along to our Webmaster who will reinstall it on the web site.  Hope it comes up for you when you connect into our site.

Speaking of music, many of you may not have noticed that we have added the German text to Das Funkerlied.  All right you Monterey Mary's in German, how many of you can still understand the words?  The written text is slightly different than the audio.  The written text is exactly as it was written by the author and was provided by the German Army Signal Corps Veterans Association.  In the text and audio, L. N. refers to the Luftwaffa Nachtrictendienst, the WW-II German Air Force Intercept Service.

Interesting to note that besides the National Cryptologic Museum at Ft. George G. Meade, MD, there is also the US Army Intelligence Museum in Fort Huachuca, AZ.  The Intel Museum opened in 1995 and exhibits all aspects of Army Intelligence history, including SIGINT and IMINT.  They exhibit a number of encryption devices, including an ENIGMA code machine.  They also acquire and preserve records of individuals and units associated with the history of Army Intelligence from the Revolutionary War to the present, including records of ASA units and Field Stations.  They are open daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day.

'BOUNCED' E-MAIL: The e-mail version of the Planning Profile bounced for the following people: Jim Clinton**, Frank A. Bonneville and Philip G. Byrnes.
