ASA ALPINERS XVI REUNION - Louisville,
KY - May 24-26, 2007. Keep these
dates open and plan on attending our
next reunion. Plans are well on
their way for next year's reunion. We
have a few more details to work out and
will probably have reunion details on
our web site within the next month.
HASENBRAU vs SCHEYERNGOLD: BILL
NIPPERT (Bad Aibling 70-72/Augsburg 72-76/79-81/86-89)
chimes in that Hasenbrau was so bad they
went out of their way to avoid it and
would drink Spezi in a Hasenbrau restaurant
if the food were particularly good.
BAD AIBLING RADOMES:
JIM SELLERS (BA 64-67) mentions that
they were not yet there when he left
BA in April of '67.
RAY MARSHALL (BA 65-68) wrote that the first radome probably went up in the Summer of 1967. It was an all civilian operation so nobody knew squat about it. Ray also mentioned that he had never heard of the term "Bakery." MIKE HANNAN (BA 67-69) wrote that the first dome was constructed over the Operations hanger during 68-69. Mike adds that to the best of his knowledge it was not yet operational when he left in late 1969. DOUG GITT (BA 67-70) chimes in with 1968 and concluded that "Bakery" must have been coined after he left in '70. Ray Marshall also mentioned that in
December of 59 he, and a team, went TDY
to Augsburg to do some testing to see
if their mission could be fulfilled from
Gablingen. He also wonders if there
is anyone that keeps an "archive" of
BA stuff. He has a copy of "From
Munich to Salzburg by Snail", a well-written
and creatively illustrated tour guide
by a couple of officers wives. It
is a guide to all the small towns and
events around BA, even into Austria.
Headquarters ASAPAC 1946-52 will be
holding their next reunion in Ft. Mitchell,
KY, from September 27 to October 1st,

2006, in Las Vegas, NV. Chris Homier,
